Jing jie - Herba Schizonepetae (warm release exterior)
Fang feng - Radix Saposhnikoviae (warm release exterior)
- Common cold with headache, nasal congestion, and runny nose due to Wind-Cold
- Deep source nasal congestion with headache, loss of smell, and turbid nasal phlegm
- Chronic/acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, hypertrophic rhinitis, sinusitis, pansinusitis, and frontal sinusitis
*Open the nose
Xin yi hua - Flos Magnoliae (warm release the exterior)
Cang er zi - Fructus Xanthii (warm release the exterior)
NOTE: nasal congestion is more common in wind cold because the cold congeals the mucous.
- Fever, aversion to wind, light sweating, cough, headache and slight thirst due to Wind-Heat
- Headache, vertigo, photophobia, and red, swollen, painful eyes due to LV Yang rising

Sang ye - Folium Mori (cool release the exterior)
Ju hua - chrysanthemum (cool release the exterior)
- Early stage of measles, headache, fever
- Incomplete eruption of measles, fever
Sheng ma - cimifuga (cool release exterior)
Ge gen - Radix Puerariae (cool release exterior)
