Grave Dressing: Ex partners organise post-relationship lives, publicise accounts of breakdown.
Resurrection: Each partner prepares themselves for new relationships and build on past mistakes.
Rollie and Duck’s model (Strengths)
The theory has face validity as it is an account of relationship breakdown which we can relate to.
Theory is widely accepted but applies mainly to romantic relationships because these are exclusive in a way friendships are not.
Rollie and Duck’s model (Criticism)
The theory does not apply in every case of relationship breakdown, nor do they occur in the same order.
The model does not take into account why dissatisfaction occurred, therefore fails to provide a complete picture of dissolution.
