What is a protocol?
A set of rules for communication
What is a computer network?
When two or more computers connect together to allow them to communicate
What is a network cable?
A cable to connect together different devices
What is a hub?
A hub connects multiple computers within the same network
What is a router?
To forward different messages between different networks (gateway)
What is a server?
A powerful computer which provides services. (Lot of types like file server which stores files)
Wireless connection
Sends data through air using radio waves. (Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G, 5G)
Wired connection
Sends data along ethernet cables.
What is bandwith?
The amount of data that can be moved from one point to another in a given time.
What is BPS?
Bits Per Second. Higher the BPS faster the bandwith.
What is ISP?
Internet Service Provider. Provides individuals, household, and companies access to the internet.
What is buffering?
When data arrives at your device slower that it being processed. (More bandwith to work)
What is the internet?
A physical hardware, worldwide network of computers
What is an IP/IP address?
IP = Internet Protocol
IP address is 4 groups of number that uniquely identifies each device.
What is a digital footprint?
Information found about us on the internet.
What is metadata?
“Data about data” Extra information apps and devices exchange along with content behind the user’s back.
What is Privacy Policy?
Easy explanation how the organisation/agency handles personal information.
What is keylogging?
The use of program to record every keystroke made by user to gather personal information.
What is malware?
Software intended to damage computing system or take partial control over its operation
What is Phishing?
technique to trick user to provide personal information
What is encryption?
Process of converting readable data (plain text) to unreadable format
What is decryption?
Converting unreadable format to plain text
What is Cipher
Technique/algorithm that performs encryption.
What is Caesar Cipher?
Technique for encryption that shifts the alphabet by a number of characters.
