A condition that occurs when there’s a SERIOUS DISTURBANCE that comes on QUICKLY. It is a marked shift in someone’s awareness process, frequently seen in a hospital setting or with someone taking drugs or medications due to cause of biochemical change, memory impairment, executive functioning impairment, language impairment, hallucinations, delusions, and rapid onset
Symptoms last ONLY a few hours to a day
Delirium
A disorder with a CONTINUUM, happens to those who suffer from dementia, has serious issues with attention, language, memory, cognition, executive functioning, challenges with perceptual-motor skills, require modification, often seen in nursing home or living facility, and CAN’T FUNCTION INDEPENDENTLY
Major Neurocognitive Disorder
A disorder that is a PRE-CURSOR to major neurocognitive disorder. They have a noticeable decline BUT still able to maintain independence, can show being more forgetful and may need SOME SUPPORT
Mild Neurocognitive Disorder
A disorder when a client has a HEALTH-RELATED ISSUE such as PAIN OR ILLNESS, has severe health-related anxiety, and persistent concern of medical seriousness of health concern
Somatic Symptom Disorder
A disorder when a person RARELY has somatic symptoms, if they do it is mild. They have an INTENSE FEAR they have some sort of serious disease DESPITE a doctor’s thoughts (typically a Hypochondriac)
Illness Anxiety Disorder
A disorder when psychological issues CONVERT into a somatic one. Such as “blind rage” or someone who is upset and traumatized and end up losing an arm or limb, and paralyzed by trauma
Conversion Disorder
A disorder where a person really likes the ATTENTION OF BEING SICK. They act like they are sick to go to the doctor and get attention, or parent takes a child to the doctor for attention

Factitious Disorder
This is when someone FAKES AN ILLNESS to get out of something (ex. claiming mental illness to collect disability)
Malingering
A disorder when a person makes SOMEONE ELSE APPEAR SICK. This can be a parent who continually takes a child to the doctor or when a parent gives a child a substance that makes the child sick

Factitious Disorder by Proxy
A disorder when a person RESTRICTS DIET INTAKE to the point it doesn’t meet physical needs. They are less than minimally normal for their weight, intense fear of gaining weight, distorted body image, and excessively exercises. SW needs to coordinate with a medical doctor as they often need higher level of care
Anorexia Nervosa
A disorder when a person must have both have binge eating and re-occurrent purging behaviors, will use laxatives to get rid of excess food, excessive exercise, feel sense of out of control and eat lots of food, and compulsive feeling
Bulimia Nervosa
A disorder when a person only engages in binge eating and not purging, eat massive quantities of food, and has feeling of disgust
Binge Eating Disorder
This disorder is when someone does not meet criteria of bulimia and anorexia nervosa, can have purging without binging, and someone with normal weight but obsession or anxiety about their body image
Unspecified Eating Disorder
Cannot be about weight, distinct displeasure with a body part, and gets excessive plastic surgery
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
A disorder when a person experiences reality and they are present, but report feeling outside of their body and feel like in a dream like state and the world feels surreal
Depersonalization / Derealization Disorder
A disorder where someone has sudden forgetting of their personal information, happens in times of extreme stress or shock such as a natural disaster or war zone
Dissociative Amnesia
A disorder where a person has two or more distinct personality states and shift between different names, can’t remember the other state when in a given state, and occurs after someone experiences extreme trauma at a young age
Disorder is quite uncommon
Dissociative Identity Disorder
A disorder where someone reports pain during intercourse and report fear of pain during intercourse, tensing of pelvic floor during intercourse, often seen in domestic violence and have strong negative feelings towards partners, and those who have been sexually abused or raped
Genito-Pelvic Pain / Penetration Disorder
A disorder when there is a lack of sexual interest or arousal, no sexual thoughts or fantasies and decline of intimacy, is not permanent (explore with both partners during therapies)
Female Sexual Interest / Arousal Disorder
A disorder where there is difficulty with falling asleep or staying a asleep, wake up early, or wake up multiple times, rule out a manic phase but do not see it as a problem (rule out major depression disorder and anxiety disorders)
Symptoms occur at least 3 times a night for one week and up to 3 months
Insomnia Disorder
This disorder is when someone has excessive sleepiness over 7 hours, have difficulty being awake and feel groggy, tired, sluggish, and happens to those extremely overweight (rule out major depressive disorder and substance abusers)
Hypersomnolence Disorder
A disorder when someone wakes with nightmare, quickly oriented (they can recall content of nightmare)
Nightmare Disorder
Aduster when a person experiences recurrent episodes of incomplete waking, can’t remember what dreaming about, and wakes up screaming (does not fully wake up, sleep walks)
Non-Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Disorder
This occurs when a person stops breathing during sleep, can go up to minute, results in loud snore, and disrupts quality of sleep, report being really tired in morning (can’t enter REM sleep)
Central Sleep Apnea
A sudden attack of sleep in middle of day, accompanied by sudden loss of muscle tone, possible hallucinations, and daytime fatigue
Narcolepsy
A disorder when someone has problems controlling aggressive impulses, very destructive, verbally abusive, have outburst unrelated to stressor of situation and can’t be accounted for any other disorder (rule out drugs)
Intermittent Explosive Disorder
Compulsive stealing, do not have purpose or need, and get a rush from doing it

Kleptomania
Compulsion to pull out their hair from different parts of body, often happens when they experience abuse or trauma, self-inflicted pain or punishment around shame)
Trichotillomania
A duster when a person has failure to perform major roles or obligations at home, work, or skill and it impacts social interactions, made effort to stop but can’t stop, increased tolerance for same effect, or dependence they might get shaky or withdraw experiences
Symptoms on continuum of mild to severe
Substance Use Disorder
When a person is actually on the substance and their experiences of use
Substance Intoxication
When someone is getting off the subjects and experience different withdrawal symptoms
Substance Withdrawal
A disorder that is compulsive and damaging to their life financially, pre-occupation of idea with gambling, even after losing they will go back after more and during a streak, they will keep playing for opposing reasons, and gamble during distress and lie about it (not in a manic episode)
