How do you remove hub-less drums?
A
- tap them with a hammer to free them up
- some Asian brand vehicles have two threaded holes to help remove the hubs.
- some drums are held on by screws.

What two reasons for a stubborn drum removal?
A
- a ridge can be formed inside the drum - this ridge bites on the the brake shoes, preventing it from be removed.
- Old corroded brake parts.

What tool can be used to remove a drum?
A
- a drum puller - look on the slides to see what it looks like.

What should you do if a wheel cylinder is leaking, old, and corroded?
A
- always replace them - they are inexpensive.

What should be done when testing the parking brake?
A
- have some engage and disengage the parking brake
- while the other visual inspects it while in operation.
- if the cable has laziness or is binding, replace it.

What needs to be done to eliminate brake squealing?
A
To eliminate brake squealing, apply/use anti seize compound on the six shoe support pads.

When replacing brake shoes, what measuring tool should be used and where when installing the new brake shoes? Also, what is this process called?
A
- Adjusting the shoe to drum clearance is the name of this process.
- brake shoe setting gage
- measure inside of the drum
- measure the outside of the two shoes.
- adjust the shoe adjuster if needed to ensure it fits perfectly.

What can be done after the brake shoes have been adjusted?
A
- If it feels loose, the park brake can be adjusted.
