A remedy which counteracts the actions of a drug or chemical substance

The way in which the body responds to drugs

The way in which drugs have an effect on the human body
Lipophilic
Having an affinity for lipids (fats)
Hydrophilic
Having an affinity for water
Half life
The time it takes for the concentration of the drug in the blood/plasma to fall to half of its maximum amount
Hypersensitivity
A response which is far greater than the intended effect for that dose
Steady state
The point reached where the amount of drug being absorbed into the body is the same as the amount being excreted
Teratogen
A chemical present in some drugs which causes malformation of the foetus
