Sedation (by decreasing arousal)

Side effects

  • Extrapyramidal symptoms
  • Parkinsonism: tremors, bradykinesia, muscle rigidity
  • Tardive dyskinesea
  • Increase in appetite due to loss of inhibition
  • Acute dystonia
  • Akathisia
