What are the ways drugs can be classified?
Drugs can be classified into 7 categories - depressants, hallucinogens, empathogens, opioids, psychedelics, cannabinoids and dissociates.
What is the difference between over the counter and prescription drugs?
Over the counter (OTC) drugs are those that can be sold directly to people without the need for a prescription. They treat a variety of symptoms and illnesses such as pain, coughs, colds, diarrhoea, constipation and acne.
Prescription drugs are drugs that require a prescription written by an appropriate practitioner in order to be administered or purchased.
List three reasons people might use drugs?
For enjoyment, to be part of a group, as medication, because of being subject to peer pressure, to experiment, to avoid physical or emotional pain, for rebellion.
What are the short impacts of drug use?
Short term: Slurred speechloss of motor coordination, weakness, headache, lightheadedness, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, slowed breathing
What are some long term impacts of drugs?
Long term: Heart problems, neurological issues, liver diseases, pancreatic damage, kidney health problems, development of cancerous tumours

Increased risk of suicide, addiction, depression, anxiety, diabetes, weight gain

Poor memory, attention, learning and mood
