clonidine (catapres)
stimulates A2
used for hypertension, ADHD, management of cancer pain
ADRS: orthostatic hypotension
epinephrine
stimulates A1, B1, B2
ADRs: HTN, necrosis, angina, hyperglycemia, increased HR
Dopamine
stimulates A1, B1, Dopamine
increased urine output, it is a positive inotrope, treats shock and HF
ADRS: HTN,
Isoproteranol HydroChloride
stimulates B1 and B2
used for bradycardia, heart blocks, bronchospasms related to anesthesia
ADRS: angina, tachy-dysrythmias, raises blood glucose in diabetics
Albuterol
stimulates B2 with minimal B1
-causes bronchodilation, uterine relaxation (treats preterm labor)
-non catecholemine
ADRs: increase HR, palpiations, insomnia, tremos
Dobutamine
stimulates beta 1
positive inotrope,
used for heart failure
-zosin
(prazosin, doxazosin)
blocks alpha 1 receptors
lowers BP, decreases cardiac preload and afterload
used for reversal of toxicity of alpha 1 agonist
ADRS: relfex tackycardi, orthostatic hypotension, nasal congestion
metropolol and atenolol
selective beta 1 blockers for hypertension and COPD/asthma
They dont block beta 2 (lungs) so that is why we can use them in these situations
Propranolol
treats angina, cardiac dysth
