Drugs - Anti-arrhythmic + …. | Flashcards
Anti- arrhythmic drugs - 4 types
Beta blockers
Digoxin
Rate limiting calcium channel blockers
Amiodarone
Digoxin - Type of drug + side effects
Is a cardiac glycoside
Digoxin toxicity
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Yellow vision
- Bradycardia
- Heart block
- Ventricular arrhythmias
Digoxin - 2 effects
- Blocks atrial ventricular conduction producing AV delay - good in AF
- Increases ventricular irritability which produces ventricular arrhythmias - always bad
Neprilysin inhibitors - example and function
Salcubitril valasrtan
Replaces ACEi and ARB
Angiotensin receptor blocker but prevents breakdown of BNP
Neprilysin inhibitors - side effects
Hypotension
Renal impairment
Hyperkalaemia
Angioneurotic oedema
SGLT2 inhibitors
CV risk factor reduction
Blocks SGLT2 receptor in proximal tubule in nephrons
- stops glucose reabsorption
Pee out sugar
What is a diabetic medication that has cardiovascular benefit
SGLT2 inhibitors
