Drugs Flashcards
to be drugged up
What targets Beta 1 receptors
Beta-blockers
Where are beta 1 receptors located
SAN and myocardium
How do Beta Blockers work
B1 receptor antagonist and reduces HR and allows Left ventricle more time to fill
What can beta blockers cause ( side effects )
Bronchospasm and nausea
What is Carvedilol
Non-selective B1 B2 and Alpha 1 blocker
What does norepinephrine stimulate
B1 and B2 adrenergic receptors
What does carvedilol do on vessels
it blocks alpha 1 receptors which causes it to increase in lumen size ( Vasso dilation )
What kind of drug is GTN
Pro drug
What does GTN have to be broken down to in the body (pro drug) to become activated
Nitric oxide
What does Nitric Oxide do
increases cGMP in blood vessel cells which activates intracellular protein kinases which causes relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and closes Ca2+ channels
where is GTN absorbed
submucosal lining
What kind of drug is furosemide
Loop diretic for oedema
What part of the loop of Henle does furosemide act on
ascending loop
What is the method of action of furosemide
INhibits Na+, K+ and cl- co transporter thus reduced NaCL uptaken (absorbed back into the body) thus water follows and u piss more
What is Ramipril
ACE inhibitor ( not so nice ) !!
