Process by which addicts are helped in their addiction to drugs.

What are the arguments for legalising drugs?
- Costs a lot of time and money prosecuting drug offenders.
- Drug dealers will go out of buisness
- Drugs won’t appeal as much
- Tobacco and alcohol are legal and they could be seen as more dangerous.
- Cleaner drugs would be available and HIV won’t spread through dirty needles.
What are the arguments against legalising drugs?
- More people would use them.
- The number of deaths would increase.
- The health service wouldn’t cope with the addiction problem.
What are the argument for legalising cannabis?
- Chasing cannabis users wastes police time.
- Drug dealers would be out of jobs.
- Unfair to give people a criminal record for a relatively minor offence.
- Can be used medically.
- Alcohol causes more damage to the population than cannabis.
What are the arguments against legalising cannabis?
- It’s a gateway drug.
- It is harmful.
- More people would use it.
