Vasodilation, increasing blood flow and heat loss

Excess can lead to unconsciousness, coma or death

What are the long-term effects of alcohol

A

Liver damage or brain damage (dehydration)

Cirrhosis may occur, liver has to work hard to remove toxic alcohol from body. Liver gets damaged with build up of toxic products when enzymes break down alcohol

A

Chemicals in cigarettes damage cilia in airways so they cannot remove mucus, tar and dirt from the lungs. Cilia can be burnt off and won’t flow properly

Excess coughing damages alveoli and cause emphysema
