1
Q
Anti-emetics
A
(1st line)
- Chlorpromazine
- Doxylamine and pyridoxine
- Prochlorperazine
- Promethazine
- Cyclizine (antihistamine)
(2nd line)
- Metoclopramide
- Domperidone
- Ondansetron (small increased risk of cleft palate)
2
Q
Thiazide like diuretics?
A
Indapamide, metolazone, chlorthalidone
3
Q
Mechanism of action of statins?
A
HMG CoA Reductase inhibitors
Lipid lowering
4
Q
Anti-platelet drugs?
A
- Aspirin - non-selective cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor
- Clopidogrel / prasugrel / ticegrelor
- Dipyridamole (phosphodiesterase 3 inhibitor)
5
Q
Mode of action of potassium sparing diuretic (thiazide-like diuretic)?
A
SPIRONOLACTONE
Aldosterone antagonist!
=> prevents action of aldosterone; which usually reabsorbs Na+ (increased water=BP), secrete K+ and Na+
6
Q
Osmotic diuretic?
A
Mannitol
7
Q
Loop diuretic?
A
Furosemide
(acts on ascending Loop of Henle)
8
Q
Thiazide diuretic?
A
Bendroflumethiazide
Acts on distal collecting tubule
Blocks Na-Cl cotransport = less Na+ reabsorbed = more NA+ and water lost
9
