Acetaminophen Indications
Mild to moderate pain
Acetaminophen contraindications
-Hypersensitivity
-Severe hepatic liver impairment or active liver disease
-Given in past 4hrs or at daily maximum (4000mg)
-if overdose is suspected
Acetaminophen dosage
500-1000mg PO every 4hrs.
(Patients with liver disease max dose is 2000mg)
ASA indications
Chest pain or signs/symptoms of cardiac ischemia
ASA Contraindications
-Hypersensitivity
-bronchospasm or respiratory reaction from ASA or NSAIDS
-active/recent bleeding or ulcers
-Peds patient with viral illness
ASA dosage
162mg PO (chewed and swallowed)
Epinephrine indication
Anaphylaxis
Epinephrine contraindications
None
Epinephrine dosage
0.5mg IM every 5 mins. Repeat 3 times if needed
Glucagon indications
Hypoglycemia
Glucagon contraindications
-Hypersensitivity
-insulinoma
-pheochromocytoma
-IN glucagon not for 4yrs and under
Glucagon dosage
1mg IM or 3mg IN — clinicall to administer second doses
Ibuprofen indications
Mild to moderate pain
Ibuprofen contraindications
-Hypersensitivity
-active GI hemorrhage or ulcers
-pregnancy
-renal dysfunction
-anticoagulants
