antiplatelets
include aspirin- increase risk of bleeding during particular treatents
anticoagulants
including warfarin- can increase risk of bleeding- INR must be checked 24 hrs before and should be less than 4. (INR- how long it takes blood to clot)
immunosuppressants
cyclosporine- gingival overgrowth due to overproduction of collagen
antidepressants
including citalopram- induces dry mouth
bisphosphonates
- problem when extracting tooth - can lead to MRONJ
oral contraceptives
may lead to increased sensitivity to plaque
calcium channel blockers
nifidipine and amlodopine- gingival overgrowth
ace inhibitors
ramipril- may cause lichenoid reactions within the mouth
corticosteroids
e.g brown inhalers (beclamethasone) can cause dry mouth and oral candidiasis
