What are the two types of control groups?
- Complete control group
- Partial control group
What is the NLT requirement for all support to be in place for a dropzone?
1 hour prior to TOT
What is the requirement for the use of a Complete Control Group?
- DZ is 2100m or longer
OR - 20 seconds or more of exit time
OR - More than one A/C executing the mission
Complete Control Group requirements
- Assistant DZSTL must be DZSTL qualified and a (C) JM for PERS / HE Drops)
-Two Medics with FLA
-2 Wind measuring devices (1 @ control center, 1 @ highest location on the DZ)
Partial Control Group requirements
- Does not have to be DZSTL or JM qualified
- 1 medic w/ FLA(not needed for CDS Drop)
- 1 wind measuring device
What is the requirement for needing a Boat Detail?
water obstacles within 1000m of any edge of the DZ, 40ft wide, and 4ft deep.
If 4ft deep but not 40ft wide, no boat detail BUT you need approved life preserves for all jumpers on the first pass.
What must the boat detail have in place 1hr prior to TOT?
Min. 2 boats, 2-way commo with DZSTL, and maintain comms throughout the jump
At what point do you put the boats into the water WITH engines running?
10 minutes prior to TOT
What factors would change the requirements for the boat detail?
- Type of drop
- Size of operation
- # of A/C involved
- # of loads or jumpers
