What is Dronedarone?
Dronedarone is an antiarrhythmic agent used in reducing the risk of hospitalization in patients with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation.

Gl: abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting. GU: prerenal azotenmia, acute renal failure, elevated ereatinine level. Metabolic: hypovolenmia. Skin: allergie dermatitis, dermatitis, eczema, pruritus, rash.

What is a key patient teaching point for individuals taking Dronedarone?
Tell the patient to avoid grapefruit juice.

What are some nursing considerations when administering Dronedarone?
Instruct the patient to take drugs with morning and evening meals. Monitor CV status, ECG, electrolyte levels, and QT interval routinely. Monitor renal function regularly. Renal impairment can occur. Monitor hepatic serum enzyme levels, especially during the first 6 months of therapy. Discontinue drug if hepatic injury is suspected. Advise patients to report weight gain, dyspnea, fatigue, and peripheral edema. Instruct patients to report a slowed heartbeat, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, fatigue, or rash.
