How you’d check the brakes are working before a journey
Brakes shouldn’t feel spongy or slack. You can test them as you pull off and the car shouldn’t pull to one side
Tell me where you’d find the information for the recommended try pressure for the car and how tyre pressure is checked
Found in vehicle handbook or inside drivers door there should be a sticker, use a pressure gauge, check and adjust pressure when tyres are cold. Remember to check spare tyre and refit valve caps after

It should be adjusted so rigid part is at least as high as the eyes and as close to the head as possible
Tell me how you’d check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient tread depth and their condition is safe to use on road
There should be no cuts or bulges, 1.6mm tread depth across central 3 quarters of the breadth of tyre and around entire outer circumference of tyre

Give steering a little pressure as you start the engine. There should be slight movement as power steering begins to operate. Also as soon as you move off, steering should be light to turn and not heavy

Use it when you can’t see further than 100 metres, turn dial to headlights then press this bottom button

Turn ignition on, Turn the dial clockwise from dipped to main beam. Blue warning light shows main beam is on
Open the bonnet and tell me how youd check the engine has sufficient oil
Point to the dipstick(middle left) pull it out, wipe oil off, put it back in, pull it out, there will be an oil mark between the minimum and maximum markers
Open the bonnet and tell me how youd check the engine has sufficient engine coolant
It’s in top right, check it down the side, level should be between the maximum and minimum markings. Open only when cold
Open the bonnet and tell me how youd check you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid
It’s on right hand side of engine coolant, check it down the side, should be between minimum and maximum markings
How to close bonnet:
lift it slightly as you pull bonnet stay out of hole, push it into clip and drop it just before its fully closed
