Driving Forces of Globalisation Flashcards

Q

How does technological developments in transportation drive globalisation?

A

Aircraft technology has improved significantly over the last few decades. In 1950, flying was considered a luxury experience for a selected few. Today, with the rise of low-cost airlines, the cost of flights have decreased substantially and more people can afford air travel. The improvement in technology has also reduced the time taken for travel and increased the capacity of the aircraft so that more people and goods can be transported at once. This ease of movement has led to increased activities between countries and to more interconnections and interdependence between the countries.
