Q

What is meant by timing a drill ahead tool and how is it done?

A

Timing is done to ensure proper orientation and functionality. You function the tool to the left until the top of the stop shoulder is flush with the groove on the orientation ring, then you adjust the upper cap to have the stop shoulder slightly to the right of the stop key on the orientation ring.
