DR. G.LAHOZ - ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS Flashcards
BP IN HYPERTENSION
140/90
BLOOD PRESURE =
CARDIAC OUTPUTX PERIPHERALVASCULAR RESISTANCE
EXERTED AT 3 ANATOMICAL SITES
ARTERIOLES
POSTCAPILARY VENULES
HEART
lower blood pressure by
depleting the body of sodium and
reducing blood volume and perhaps by other mechanisms
DIURETICS
ACTS ON KIDNEYS
DIURETICS
reducing peripheral vascular resistance,
inhibiting cardiac function, and
increasing venous pooling in capacitance vessels.
SYMPATHOPLEGIC AGENTS
reduce pressure by relaxing vascular smooth muscle, thus
dilating resistance vessels
and—to varying degrees—increasing capacitance as well.
DIRECT VASODILATORS
reduce peripheral vascular resistance and
(potentially) blood volume.
AGENTS BLOCK ANGIOTENSIN
