what is an insider methods?
insider methods seek to influence the goverment directly by having contact with politicians and decision makers.
what is an outsider methods?
influence gov. indirectly by informing and persuading the public to spend 2 support them, hoping this will influence the government.
what methods would insider pg use?
try to access key decision key makers - the PM cabinet and civil servants - to argue the case directly
provide specialist information and advice when the gov. is considering new legislation ; this provides pressure groups with access to influence gov.
try to target and influence specific members of the HOC, HOL etc
what methods would outsider pg use?
social media, e-petitions and the internet to voice concerns and raise concern
the use of celebrities to contribute to news and current affairs tv programmes
mass public campaigns such as marches and demonstrations to put pressure on the gov.
what is direct action?
direct action is where the public actively becomes involved in politics as opposed to dealing through a representative or simply voting in elections.
examples of direct action
marches and demonstations to show objection or support e.g antibrexit marches
sit-ins (e.g occupy london)
trade unions may go on strike e.g junior doctors striking to protest against the imposition of new contracts
what is civil disobedience ?
civil disobedience is a form of direct action and is the refusal to obey certain laws. it is also one of the many ways people rebelled against what they deem to be unfair laws. e.g fathers4justice who climbed famous building wearing costumes is a modern example.
