Normality
refers to the capacity to cope with ordinary demands of life or to think and act in an effective way to achieve goals and meet needs
Neurotypical
a specific term for normality that describes individuals who think, behave and feel in a way that’s typical for most people
Neurotypical brain development
refers to the expected development of brain structures and neurological communication over time
Neurodivergent
Refers to individuals who think, behave and feel differently to most other people
Neurodiversity
The natural neurological difference that occurs between people’s nervous system, particularly their brain, resulting in differences in learning, thinking and processing.
What is one normal variation about the rate of brain
Includes the rate at which the brain develops, some people’s brain developments at a faster rate.
One normal variation about neurodivergent individuals
Neurodivergent individuals may have an area in the brain that are different to neurotypical such as in autistic brains, as they have a larger amygdala.
