The employee resigns, terminates, or takes a leave of absence from the Department, or The employee is assigned to a light-duty function or the Centralized Telephone Report Unit for a period exceeding 30 days.

What must a sgt do when an employee reports their portable radio missing or damaged.

A

Ensure the employee has completed the neccisary case reports, conducts an investigation verifying the radio was lost, stolen, ordamaged, and determines the presence or absence of employee negligence. The supervisor will forward a copy of the case report to the Operational Support Administration with his/her findings. The
supervisor will also notify the Communications Supervisor of the radio ID number for deactivation of the radio from the system.

If a commanding officer determines a portable radio was damaged due to negligence, what hapens?

A

They forward their findings to fiscal, who in turn will invoice the employee for the replacement cost.

A

They send the radio to the City’s Communications Division for reprogramming, remove the radio ID from the employee’s CAD security file and update the radio inventory in the Ops Support database.
