What are the Similarities of the Purgative herbs
All of these herbs have downward draining properties. They are Normally Bitter and Cold.
What herb am I : Sedates fire, eliminates toxins, invigorates blood to relieve stagnation
Da Huang
What herb am, I : Soften hardness, clears fire
Mang Xiao - Acrid, bitter, salty, Very Cold
What herb am I : habitual constipation, more mild than da haung and mang xiao
Fan Xie Ye- Sweet, Bitter, and Cold, and goes to the Large Intestine
What Herb am I: Sedates Liver Fire, kills parasites
Lu Hui (Herba Aloes) , Bitter and Cold
What herb purges heat, clears toxicy, fire, moves blood stasis, clears damp heat LV/G
Da Huang
What are the Contraindications for Da Huang
Do not use this herb on individuals with weak stomach qi /it should be avoided by those with qi and blood deficiency who do not have significant accumulations or blood stasis. Use with great caution, and only when absolutely necessary, during menstruation, pregnancy, and lactation
What herb am I : cools the Liver, relieves constipation,kills parasites

What Purgative herb is often used alone
Fan Xie Ye
What herb am I : Drains downward and guides out stagnation: for constipation due to heat accumulation in the Intestines. Can be used for both acute and chronic problems. Often used alone
