Double different 받침 Flashcards
Explain?
There are some 받침 which can be composed of two different letters.
For example the verbs:
넓다, 않다, 읽다, 앉다, 싫다, 없다
All the possible 받침 are..
ㄳ ㄵ ㄶ ㄺ ㄻ ㄼ ㄽ ㄾ ㄿ ㅀ ㅄ
If you find a syllable with double 받침 which aren’t followed by anything, including other consonants, you can’t pronounce both..
SO you have to pronounce sometimes the first consonant, sometimes the second.
Examples of double 받침 not followed by anything where you can’t pronounce both and..
where the first consonant prevails.
ㅄ→ㅂ ㄳ→ㄱ ㄼ→ㄹ (sometimes ㅂ, basically ㄹ) ㄽ→ㄹ ㄵ→ㄴ ㄾ→ㄹ ㅀ→ㄹ ㄶ→ㄴ
For example: 앉→안 앉다→안따 넋→넉 넋다→넉따
Examples of double 받침 not followed by anything where you can’t pronounce both and..
where the second consonant prevails.
ㄺ→ㄱ*
ㄿ→ㅍ
ㄻ→ㅁ
- Only in one case:
ㄹ prevails on ㄱ and it is the word “읽기” which is pronouced “일끼”.
For example: 읽→익 읽다→익따 닮→담 닮다→담따
What if the double 받침 is followed by a vowel?
If a double 받침 is followed by a vowel, the last consonant moves to the other syllable.
