large volume infusions are on a continuous basis (fluid and electrolyte replacement) whereas bolus infusions are usually a one-time Rx

A
Intermittent infusions are usually a med mixed in 50-250ml of solution and administered over less than an hour.

Small-volume bolus infusions involve a small amount of med (concentrated or diluted) and last a short time (1-2min)
