dominant and recessive alleles Flashcards
1
Q
in heterozygous pairing
A
- allele may be dominant (expressed in offspring)
- allele my be recessive (trait is suppressed in presence of dominant allele)
2
Q
determination
A
- if one allele is dominant, a homozygous (BB) organism has the same phenotype as a heterozygous organism (Bb)
- for example allele b is recessive, it is suppressed by dominant allele B, however the recessive allele will not be suppressed if the dominant allele is not present
