Q
What are the weaknesses in the domestic explanation of war?
A
- It is hard to conclude that a war was caused by a certain group
- Would the government have acted differently if that interest group didn’t exist?
- It is difficult to separate actor-specific interests from broader national interests. (eg; companies want oil, but so do states)
- War is dyadic
- War can’t be caused entirely by the domestic interests of one state
- What about the other state(s) and their domestic interests?
