Four Types of QAR System

A
  1. Right there: the answer to the question is in the text in a single identifiable sentence. (literal)
  2. Think and Search: the answer is in the text but it is in two different parts of the text.(literal)
  3. Author and you: the answer is not in the text. Sts need to think about what they already know and what the author said and put it together.(inferential or evaluative)
  4. On my own: the answer is not in the story. You can answer the question without reading the story. (inferential or evaluative)

What is the SQ3R reading technique?

A

Survey - survey the chapter: titles, subtitles, captions, bold type
Question - write 2-3 questions you think the chapter will answer
Read - look for answers to the questions
Recite - state aloud key points
Review - periodically review what was learned, using written questions and answers as a guide
