23
Q

Quality Assurance

A

Relatively new concept in management practice

American Society for Quality (ASQ) Definition:

all the planned and systematic activities implemented within the quality system that can be demonstrated to provide confidence that a product or service will fulfill requirements for quality.

Assuring outcomes are desirable

Practice is confirmed by Quality Control checks

25
Q

Quality Management

A

Quality Planning - Educating your organization on quality standards applicable to that firm’s culture, and the processes established to produce work.

Quality Assurance - The application of processes during the design phase to ensure the product comes out of an acceptable (…hopefully exceptional!) level of quality.

Quality Control - Process involving the testing and inspection to determine its level of quality

Quality Improvement - Process that establishes practices for understanding feedback and lessons learned, and using that knowledge to enhance the quality of work in future projects.

26
Q

Quality Control

A

Traditional method of reviewing documents after design is completed

“Testing and inspecting”
Used to confirm quality assurance is followed/successful

In iterative design processes (repetitive work) this may be considered quality assurance for future projects
