Do Seek Their Meat from God questions Flashcards
Discuss the allusion in the title “Do Seek Their Meat from God”
It’s clear that the allusion in the title is “God.” Everyone knows who “God” is, whether they believe in His existence or not. The title “Do Seek Their Meat from God” refers to the panthers, looking for food to feed themselves and their young. Since they were having trouble finding food, it can be assumed they were waiting for some sort of miracle from God, granting them with meat.
From what point of view is this story written?
The story is told in omniscient, because we are able to see 2 or more of the character’s thoughts. It is effective because we can see all sides of the story: the panthers, the settler, and the child. We can see the panther’s circumstances, instead of thinking that they were just bloodthirsty beasts.
Identify one type of irony
Dramatic irony: In this story, it was used when the settler thought the child was just “crying for loneliness”, the settler did not know that the child was in danger (Roberts 85). It is effective because it filled the story with more suspense and mystery.
