What is an A Record?
Map domain name to IPv4 address
What is an AAAA Record?
Map domain name to IPv6 address
What is CNAME?
- Canonical Name
- Stores additional hostnames or alias for hosts in the domain.
What is MX?
- Mail Exchange
- Points domain names of mail servers that handle incoming email traffic for the domain.
What is TXT record?
- Text
- Allows arbitrary text data to be associated with the domain name.

- Pointer
- Pointer to the canonical name which is used to perform reverse DNS lookup.
What is SOA?
- Start of Authority
- A record of information containing data on DNS zones and other DNS records.
What is NS?
- Name Server
- A server that stores and organizes DNS records, which pair domains with IP addresses.
What is SRV?
- Service Locator
- Specify information about services available on a network.
What is Authoritative DNS Server?
- A server that stores and organizes DNS records, which pair domains with IP addresses.
What is Non authoritative DNS Server?
- Known as caching resolvers
- An intermediary server that helps resolve DNS queries by contacting authoritative servers.
What is DNS forward zone?
It maps domain names to their corresponding IP addresses, which is essential for resolving internal domain names efficiently.
What is DNS secondary zone?
Helps provide redundancy and load balancing for a primary DNS server.
What is DNS reverse zone?
Is used for the opposite purpose of a forward zone, mapping IP addresses back to their domain names.
What is DNS authoritative zone?
A type of DNS zone where the server has the authority to manage the DNS records for a specific domain
