2. free floating nucleotides in the nucleus align with the polynucleotide due to complementary base pairing
3. DNA Polymerase will form phosphodiester bonds between the adjacent nucleotides which forms a new nucleotide
4. the new nucleotide will bond with the existing one forming a DNA double helix
