Q

What is DNA-Helicase?

A

an enzyme that splits up the hydrogen bonds between the bases and thus “unzips” the double helix

Q

What is DNA-polymerase?

A

walks down the DNA from 5’ to 3’
adds new nucleotides to each strand, (nucleotides pair with the complementary one, A&T, G&C)

Q

What is primase?

A

An enzyme that binds a primer to the DNA strand, so the DNA-polymerase knows where to start building small parts of the DNA-strand –> these parts are called Okazaki fragment
when primer removed: gaps
