DNA is a double stranded helix with two back bones and complementary base pairs (Adenine and Thymine join together to make a pair and Guanine and Cytosine)

A gene is a section of DNA which codes for a protein

Takes a complementary copy of DNA which codes for a protein from the DNA in the nucleus and to a ribosome in the cytoplasm
