When may an aircraft descend during a DGA?
Once the aircraft is established within the sector or on the specified track, and then only down to the sector MSA. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
May an aircraft manoeuvre within a DGA sector?
Yes, but it must be maintained within the sector limits and above the sector MSA. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
May an aircraft be manoeuvred in a DGA once it has passed the final approach fix?

What are the four GPS requirements before commencing a DGA?
- The database must be current
- Coordinates of stations must not be able to be modified
- GPS integrity (RAIM) must be available before descent below LSALT/MSA
- The nominated aid (VOR/NDB) must be used for track guidance. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
When must a DGA be discontinued?
- In the event of disparity between the aids (VOR (>5.2degrees) /NDB (>6.9 degrees)) and GPS track guidance.
- If a RAIM warning appears or if RAIM is not available the approach must be discontinued. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
When being cleared a DGA from ATC, does this constitute a clearance to land?
No, only the approach down to the MDA. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
May an aircraft enter a hold or orbit or use holding pattern entry procedures when cleared a DGA by ATC?
No. ATC will not clear a DGA that requires holding. (Jepp Term: AU-9)
On a DGA in CTA, who’s responsibility is it to maintain the aircraft within the DGA sectors above the sector MSA’s?
