Divisions of the nervous system Flashcards
1
Q
What does the CNS and PNS consist of?
A
CNS- brain and spinal cord
PNS- nerves that connect the CNS with the receptors of muscles and glands
2
Q
What is the difference between sensory and motor fibres?
A
Sensory fibres: carry impulses TO the CNS
Motor Fibres: carry impulses FROM the CNS
3
Q
Describe the afferent division
A
Impulses are carried INTO the CNS.
Somatic sensory neurons: receptors from the skin and around the muscles and joints
Visceral sensory neurons: receptors from internal organs
