What are the benifits of having a diverse team

A

employees will have different characteristics and backgrounds, they are also more likely to have a variety of different skills and experiences. This leads to the following benifits;

  • Variety of different perspectives,
  • Increased creativity,
  • Higher innovation,
  • Faster problem-solving,
  • Better decision making,
  • Higher employee engagement,
  • Reduced employee turnover,
  • Better company reputation.

We have a team made up of people from different backgrounds; military, on the tools, rural, london, graduates which all bring a different perspective and a viriaty of skills to the team.

What is Unconcious Bias

A

The Precision issue of Modus titled “Workplace diversity: Addressing unconscious bias: Psychologists tell us that our unconscious biases are simply down to our natural people preferences. Biologically we are hard-wired to prefer people who look like us, sound like us and share our interests.”

How to overcome unconcious bias;

A

The Precision issue of Modus titled “Workplace diversity: Addressing unconscious bias” suggested;

  • Consider reverse mentoring for senior staff members who are set in their ways,
  • Recognising and managing your biases,
  • Recognise how you’re thinking about a situation: is your decision based on rationale or feelings,
  • Implement a mentoring programme particularly for under-represented groups.
