What is the Tuckman theory?

A

Bruce Tuckman - how a team approach a task:

Forming - assemble team and plan creating a bond

Storming - address task in hand, leadership is crucial here

Norming - agree rules and values of task in hand

Performing - collaborative decision making, identified by high levels of independence, knowledge and competence

Adjourning / Transforming - End of the project and team disbanded, is team return to any phase it is usually forming.

What is the Herzberg theory?

A

Frederick Herzberg - theory based on hygiene and motivational:

Workers will work hard based on motivational factors (i.e. job enrichment)

They become de-motivated if hygiene factors such as remuneration, comfortable working conditions and annual leave entitlement are not met.

A

Increased creativity - increases chance of generating solutions to problems

Improved cultural awareness - allows company to operate better in a global market e.g. having an employee who speaks French will be good for operating in France

A positive reputation - Potential employees want an employer who accepts and is tolerant of all backgrounds and who treats their employees fairly.

What is Part M of the building regulations?

A

Covers the access to and use of buildings

Approved Document M provides information about the ease of access to, and use of, buildings, including facilities for disabled visitors or occupants, and the ability to move through a building easily including to toilets and bathrooms.

Guidance on the use of ramps and steps is covered to provide ease of access, with information including safe degrees of pitch and dimensions when building a wheelchair accessible facility. The construction of accessible stairs and corridors is also addressed, including the safe height of stairs and the accessible width of both corridors and stairs.
