dissociative identity D DSM
2 or more distinct identities. at least 2 ID recurrently take ctrl of behavior. can’t recall personal info of one personality when other is dom. not due to substance or med condition
dissociative ID epi, course, prog tx
sx may be like borderline. 90% women. most have previous trauma. avg age 30. comorbid- MDD, AD, borderline, substance abuse. 1/3 attempt suicide.
chronic with incomplete recovery. worst prog of dissociative D. earlier onset = worse prog. tx: hypnosis, drug assisted interviewing, insight oriented psychotherapy, pharamothperapy if comorbid D dev.
depersonalization D dsm
persistent or recurrent experiences of being detached from one’s body or mental processes. reality testing remains intact during episode. causes social/occupational impairment, can’t be accounted for by another mental or physical D.
depersonalization D epi, tx,
aware of sx and often fear they are going crazy so often have anxiety or panic. F>M. 15-30yo. more anxiety and MDD. stress predisposes. often chronic but may remit wo tx. use anti anxiety agents or SSRT to tx sx.
