What would you expect to see on clotting profile in DIC and why?
A
Prolonged PT
Prolonged APTT
Reduced fibrinogen
DIC activates coagulation pathway which manifests as bleeding due to the coagulation factors being consumed-> leads to prolonged PT and APTT
Fibrinogen is consumed causing levels to fall
