A
Legitimate travel expenses, lost wages

What can you NOT compensate a witness for?
A
Anything which is related to the outcome of the case.
Examples:
- A payment that causes a witness to give favorable evidence
- A payment that is contingent on a result in the case

Examples of respect for the court
A
Not wasting time
Complying with orders
Drawing court’s attention to relevant law if it is likely to have a material outcome in your case (even if it harms your client’s position)
