Display of quantitative data Flashcards
1
Q
Tables
A
raw data can be set out in a table and summarised using a measure of central tendency or dispersion
- help interpret findings
2
Q
Frequency tables
A
data that tells you how frequently certain items occurred
3
Q
Bar chart
A
frequency data can be represented in a bar chart
- height of each bar represents the frequency of each item
- suitable for data that is not continuous
4
Q
Histogram
A
- similar to a bar chart except the area within the bars must be proportional to the frequency represented
- continuous data — cannot draw data in categories
- no gaps between the bars
5
Q
Line graph
A
- has continuous data on the x- axis and there is a dot to mark the top of each bar
- each dot is connected by a line
6
Q
Pie chart
A
- another way to represent frequency data or can be used to represent any proportion
7
Q
Scatter diagram
A
- graph used when doing correlational analysis
