How does dispersion occur?

- Dispersion is when white light is refracted through a prism to form RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET (remember these colours using this name, ROY G BIV)

This occurs because violet light slows down more and bends more than red light.
