1) Gonadotrophin-dependent precocious puberty (GDPP/central) = due to premature activation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis
2) Gonadotrophin-independent precocious puberty (GIPP/peripheral) = due to autonomous secretion of sex steroids
