Chédiak-Higashi Syndrome
A
Inherited (autosomal recessive) disorder causing many large, greenish primary cytoplasmic granules or many
large, reddish-purple secondary cytoplasmic granules. Can cause complete or partial albinism and is usually
fatal.

Chronic Granulomatous Disease
A
- Etiology: caused by inability of phagocytes to produce superoxide and reactive oxygen species. Formation of
granulomas during chronic inflammatory reactions. Patients normally have a history of recurrent infections. - Laboratory Diagnosis:
o Neutrophilia
o Increased WBC count
o Nitroblue tetrazolium reduction test negative
