2 advantages and 2 disadvantages of statins

A

Advantages:
►increase the amount of a beneficial type of cholesterol (‘good’ cholesterol or HDL cholesterol) in the bloodstream.
►reduce amount of ‘bad’ cholesterol in the blood.

Disadvantages:
►the effect of statins isn’t instant. takes time for effect to kick in.
►long term drug which must be taken regularly. there is a risk if you have forgotten to take them

A

Biological valves are where the valves are taken from humans or other mammals whereas mechanical valves are where they are man-made.

Non-communicable diseases are diseases that cannot spread between person to person and animal to animal. They usually last for as long time and get worse slowly.
E.g. Asthma, cancer etc.
