What is discriminatory practises?
Discriminatory practice involves treating someone unfairly or less favourably compared to others. Discriminatory practice can take many forms, such as excluding someone from activities, or verbal or physical abuse
What counts as discrimination?
- Ignoring people and their needs
- Bullying people
- Isolating individuals
- Failing to meet language or cultural needs
- Using negative labels to refer to groups of people
- Expressing prejudicial views and stereotypes
- Infringing on people’s rights
How would it feel if you experienced discrimination?
- Feeling alone
- isolated, upset
- like you don’t belong
- anxious
How does discriminatory practice develop?
Discriminatory practice develops from uninformed attitudes and beliefs that result in unfair treatment of certain individuals or groups of people

there may be negative perceptions of certain age groups, such as older adults or teenagers
